Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Dear Friend Digital GmbH (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the GridTide app and related pages.
1. Information we collect
GridTide is built for privacy. We collect only:
- Data on your device — Audio preferences, onboarding state, high scores, and settings (including whether analytics is enabled) are stored locally on your iPhone. We do not sync this to our servers.
- Optional usage analytics — If you turn on Share usage analytics in the app’s Settings (under Privacy), we use Firebase Analytics (Google) to collect aggregated, pseudonymous data such as app opens, screen views, game sessions (e.g. start/end of a round, difficulty, board size, score and move counts at end of game). This helps us improve stability and gameplay. You can disable this at any time in Settings; when disabled, new analytics events are not sent.
- Device and app metadata in analytics — When analytics is enabled, Firebase may process device type, OS version, app version, and general usage patterns as described in Google’s documentation. We do not use analytics to identify you personally.
2. Data we do not collect
We do not require an account. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, precise location, or payment details for GridTide.
3. How we use data
- Run the game and keep your preferences and scores on device.
- When you opt in, understand how the app is used so we can fix bugs and improve the experience.
4. Third-party services
- Firebase Analytics — Optional; only active when you enable sharing in Settings. See Firebase privacy & security.
5. Your choices
- Turn off Share usage analytics in GridTide → Settings → Privacy. Analytics collection is toggled off immediately for future events.
- Apple provides additional privacy controls at the system level (e.g. App Privacy details on the App Store product page).
6. Retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear app data. Analytics data processed by Firebase is retained according to Google’s policies and your Firebase project settings.
7. Children
GridTide is not directed at children under 13 in a way that requires collecting their personal information. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date below will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
