This Privacy Policy describes how Dear Friend Digital GmbH ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the YearDrop app.
1. Information we collect
YearDrop is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:
- Usage analytics – When you enable "Share usage analytics" in Settings, we use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized data such as app opens, game sessions, and feature usage. This helps us improve the game. You can disable this at any time in Settings.
- Advertising data – To show ads and keep the game free, we use Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as IDFA if you consent, or IDFV), device type, and ad interaction data. This data is used to deliver and measure ads. In the European Economic Area and UK, we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads.
- Device information – Analytics may include device type, operating system version, and app version. This data is anonymized and not linked to your identity.
2. Data we do not collect
We do not collect:
- Personal identification (name, email, phone number)
- Location data
- Payment or financial information
- Any data that identifies you personally
3. How we use your data
We use collected data only to:
- Improve the game experience
- Fix bugs and optimize performance
- Understand how features are used
- Show relevant ads and measure ad performance (via AdMob)
4. Third-party services
We use the following Google services:
- Firebase Analytics – Optional usage analytics. See Firebase Privacy.
- Google AdMob – Advertising to keep the app free. AdMob may use device identifiers and ad interaction data. See AdMob Privacy and Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Your choices
You can:
- Turn off analytics under Settings → Privacy → Share usage analytics. When disabled, no analytics data is sent.
- Manage ad personalization: On iOS, you may see a prompt to allow or deny tracking for personalized ads. You can change this later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- In the EEA and UK, manage your ad consent at any time under Settings → Privacy → Manage ad preferences.
6. Data retention
Analytics data is retained according to Firebase's retention policies. We do not store personal data on our own servers.
7. Children
YearDrop does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app is suitable for general audiences.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the policy on this page and, when appropriate, through the app.
