Privacy
Brushlings is built for children, and privacy is not a footnote. It is the foundation.
The short version
The Brushlings app does not collect personal information about your child. No ads. Camera images and face data stay on the device. Progress lives locally. We do not build profiles from brushing, photos, or animal choices.
This website uses optional analytics cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Without consent, we only store your cookie choice locally.
The Brushlings app
Everything below in this policy about cameras, photos, progress, and streaks applies to the iOS app only — not to your visit on this marketing website.
TrueDepth Camera & Face Data
Brushlings uses Apple’s TrueDepth camera and on-device face-tracking technology on devices with a TrueDepth front camera (e.g. iPhone X and newer). This is required for the live animal masks during brushing sessions.
What data is processed:
- Depth information and facial geometry / face-mapping data from the TrueDepth camera
- Live front-camera video frames, processed in real time only
- Approximate head position used for on-device brushing guidance (no separate face-ID or biometric login)
How we use this data:
- Only to display live animal masks on the user’s face and to provide brushing guidance inside the app
- Not used to identify or authenticate users, build profiles, or recognize individuals
- Not used for advertising, marketing, analytics, or data mining
- Not shared with third parties, affiliates, or data brokers
Storage, retention & deletion:
- TrueDepth / face-mapping data is processed only on the device in real time and is not uploaded to our servers or any third party
- We do not permanently store face maps, depth maps, or live camera frames
- If the user saves a mask photo, that photo is stored locally in the app gallery on the device only (see “Photos & Gallery” below)
- Deleting the app or resetting app data in iOS Settings removes all locally stored app data
Your choices & consent:
- Camera access (and therefore TrueDepth / face tracking) requires your permission via the iOS system prompt
- You can revoke permission at any time in Settings → Brushlings → Camera
- Without camera permission, live masks are unavailable; the timer and brushing guide still work
This section describes the app’s use of TrueDepth APIs as required by Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines (Guideline 5.1.1(i)).
Camera (general)
The live mask experience requires access to the front camera. Aside from optional locally saved mask photos, camera and face-tracking data are processed only in real time on the device. There is no transfer, upload, or permanent storage of live camera or face-tracking data.
Photos & Gallery
When your child takes a mask photo, it is stored locally inside the app. These photos are not uploaded and are accessible only on that device. They can be deleted at any time in the app gallery.
Progress & Streaks
Brushing progress, streaks, and unlocked masks are stored only locally on the device, so your child can continue where they left off. This information is not linked to a person and does not leave the device.
Accounts & what the app does not do
- No registration and no user account are required in the app.
- We do not collect personal information such as name, email, age, or a child profile.
- No location or contact data is collected by the app.
- We do not log brushing sessions, animal selections, screen views, photos, or purchases to advertising platforms.
- There are no ads and no external links in the app that children can open unsupervised. Optional in-app purchases are handled via Apple.
Third-party services in the app
The app uses a small set of third-party SDKs. None of them receive camera frames, face data, photos, or brushing activity.
- Apple StoreKit / RevenueCat — to process and restore the optional Brushlings Pro purchase. Purchase status is handled through Apple’s systems.
- Meta (Facebook Core SDK) — only for privacy-preserving app-install attribution (including Apple’s SKAdNetwork), so we can measure App Store campaigns. We do not show Meta ads in the app, do not request App Tracking Transparency, do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA), and do not send custom in-app events about brushing, masks, or purchases to Meta.
These services may process limited technical data (for example device or install-related signals) as described in their own privacy policies — not personal information about your child. Camera content and progress stay on the device.

Children should use the Brushlings app, not browse this website unsupervised. The website is aimed at parents and guardians.
Children
The Brushlings app is designed for children with special care. We do not collect personal information about children. Camera and face data stay on the device, there are no ads, and we do not build profiles from in-app behavior. Limited technical data for purchases and install attribution is processed as described above. We follow the principles of the GDPR and guidance for kid-friendly apps.
App data storage & deletion
All data generated by the app exists only on your device. Deleting the app or resetting app data in iOS Settings removes all local app data completely.
Changes to this policy
If anything changes in how data is processed, we will update this page. Significant changes will also be communicated in an app update.
